Gröden / Gardena
A Paradise for Sports Fans
Mountain peaks that seem to rise up to touch the heavens, magnificent snow-filled landscapes, and clear mountain air all come together to form the uniqueness of the landscape of the Val Gardena. The Geisler / Odle Group, the Puez Group, the Sella Group, and the Sassolungo Group are among the most-picturesque mountains of the Dolomites, and are located in Val Gardena. The many pinnacles and jagged rocks jutting out from the Dolomites cliffs of Val Gardena are a popular destination for hikers and climbers.
For all of the winter sports enthusiasts staying at the Gran Baita Sport and Wellness Hotel, Val Gardena is a superlative location. The 1,200 kilometers of well-groomed slopes of the Dolomiti Superski Area of Val Gardena – Alpe di Siusi make it a paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike. The skiing circuit around the massif of the Sella –the Sella Ronda– starts in Selva Gardena. With its one-of-a-kind and impressive panoramic landscapes, the Sella Ronda invites you to explore its 40 km of slopes winding around rocky peaks, threading through dense forests, and traversing sunny slopes.
A cultural meeting-place in the heart of Europe: Val Gardena is one of the four Ladin Valleys of South Tyrol. Ladin is a Rhaeto-Romanic language and is still spoken widely here. Remnants of the two millennia of history of Val Gardena are to be seen everywhere.
